This is what you need to know about the VO2MAX score
There are many reasons why you should use a fitness tracker. It is very useful to keep an eye on various parameters, such as the number of steps, your heart rate and your calories burned. But have you ever looked at your VO2MAX score? This could be your secret weapon to reach your fitness goals!
What is VO2MAX?
Your VO2MAX indicates the maximum amount of oxygen your body can absorb. This value gives a good indication of how well your body is able to convert oxygen into energy, which also says a lot about the condition of your heart and respiratory system.
Why is the VO2MAX interesting?
The better your VO2MAX, the longer you can exercise at medium or high intensity. A good VO2MAX also makes exercising easier, which in turn can help you stay motivated. So it’s definitely worth tracking your VO2MAX!
What is a good VO2MAX score?
A fit woman’s VO2MAX score can be up to twice that of a woman with a sedentary lifestyle who doesn’t exercise. But your VO2MAX score doesn’t just depend on how fit you are. Factors such as gender, age, body weight, fat percentage and genes also have an influence. In general, the average VO2MAX for women between the ages of 30 and 40 is 31 ml oxygen/kg body weight/minute. In other words, they consume an average of 31 ml of oxygen per minute for every kilogram they weigh. Fit women with an active lifestyle (which you undoubtedly belong to!) have an average VO2MAX of 45+ ml oxygen/kg body weight/minute.
Whatever your workout goals, it’s really worth tracking your VO2MAX score. Because we all want to be fit, right?
