How to exercise responsibly in hot weather
Tropical temperatures and still want to exercise: how can this be done in a healthy way? Working out in the heat is never pleasant, but the hot weather doesn’t have to be a reason not to exercise. Whether you want to go running, work out or go mountain biking, it’s important to take a few precautions! We have listed a few handy tips for you.
1. Drink enough water
Drink at least 2 liters of water. Many athletes find drinking too much during training unpleasant, because of the sloshing feeling in your stomach. Try to spread it out as much as possible, otherwise your body will not absorb it properly. Try to avoid thirst and it is good to drink more water throughout the day anyway.
2. Avoid the bright sun in the afternoon
Between 12:00 and 16:00 the UV radiation from the sun is the heaviest. Avoid this period as much as possible!
3. Choose a cool location
If you’re going to exercise outside, try to do so in the shade as much as possible or go to the gym. There is usually a good air conditioning!
4. Wear light and airy clothes
Wear light clothes and no black. Black attracts heat and your clothing needs to be able to air as much as possible, so that you can avoid the heat.
5. Adjust your training level
Do not set the bar too high for yourself, your body has it hard enough. A lighter workout is fine on days like these and you won’t exhaust yourself and your body and you will still feel satisfied!
Good luck and try to enjoy the weather! 🙂
