HOW YOU DO ANYTHING IS HOW YOU DO EVERYTHING
Your brain controls every function in your body. Chiropractor Sunitha explains why is it so important to keep it fit and healthy.
It’s nearly the end of the year and most people either want to finish their year off strongly or forget about everything till next year. But let us think about that for a second, what is the difference between December and January?
For me, more distractions! Christmas festivities, more invitations to eat and drink and perhaps it’s about letting go of our routines more easily than we would normally.
This, of course, can spiral out of control and leave us feeling guilty, dismayed and even make us give up on the goals we wanted to achieve.
But life doesn’t have to be a yo-yo. Unless that is what you thrive on.
Get your life in order
Emotions are part of being a human. Yes, there are basic feelings – we are happy and we are sad, but as we are not babies anymore, the spectrum is much wider. When we become adults, we start making decisions – sometimes mistakes – and we have to accept the consequences either way.
People are very complex and how we feel about certain events and about ourselves is so very private and real. It is anecdotal, but in my practice, people who have their health in order tend to have their lives in order. By lives, I mean health, finances, family, work. But this has also taken them many years to achieve. I don’t believe in short-term solutions for people’s lives – it is an absolute myth. People can still do everything right and fail. That is life.
Personally, I have learnt to enjoy the process of things, but I also need to work on my patience. I just need to remind myself to keep going in the right direction.
Dealing with the consequences
As I have become older, I really cannot handle, nor want such fluctuations in my life anymore. Perhaps that is what gives me better discipline. People who let their emotions make decisions, I think, will always be disappointed.
The point I’m making is: action and inaction both have a consequence. If you miss out on that party maybe you will have a better workout the next day, but you could have missed out on a really great night with your friends. The key is, to be honest, and really think about what is important to you. What really needs your focus right now, this week, next month? I think life will then take care of itself and we’ll have more time to enjoy that extra glass of champagne.
It is, after all, the end of the year.
Be safe and Merry Christmas to all of you. There is without a doubt a happy new year ahead of us. Let’s hope the best is yet to come!
