“A healthy lifestyle is not the endgame but only the beginning.” In het monthly column, FITSHE’s founder Caroline shares her view on how she lives life with push and play.
I started the FITSHE brand because I truly believe in an active lifestyle. To me and for FITSHE an active lifestyle is not so much having an amazing bikini body or fabulous abs.
Don’t get me wrong, that part matters too of course. Because when we feel good in our own skin, we feel confident and happier, which is a good thing. And – to be brutally honest – who doesn’t like a compliment or two from our lover, friends, or random construction worker on the street?
The main reason you want to be at your best
Still, the aesthetic advantages are not why I believe women should lead an active lifestyle. And it’s probably not the core reason you are leading one either. By training your body, choosing healthy nutrition, taking time to relax, and through proper sleep, you will feel – and be – in your best possible form. Why is this important? First of all it is important to you. But secondly – and this is where it gets interesting – it’s important because it allows you to give more to life and live it to the fullest.
When you have more, you can give more
This month’s magazine is about Sharing is Caring. We’ve interviewed Steffi de Pous, our FITSHE yogi-ambassador who has launched Because we Carry, an initiative to support the refugees in Lesbos. She has been there herself and will return to Lesbos next week in order to provide food, shelter and baby slings to families arriving at Europe’s border. When I interviewed Steffi, I was touched by her inner strength and determination to make a change, no matter how big or small. And I realized again just how important it is to take care of yourself in order to take care of others. While Steffi gives all her time and energy to others, she closely pays attention to her own state of mind, while making sure she eats healthily and sleeps enough. Caring for yourself is the starting point from where you can care for other people.
The different aspects of taking care of yourself
With FITSHE I want to support women to live life to the fullest in order to give it all. At FITSHE we call this push. Push yourself, push your limits, and give it all you can. It’s not always easy and there are various aspects that you’ll want to balance or perhaps even change. So this FITSHE magazine touches upon as many of these aspects as possible to aid you in this. I proudly present our new writer Sunitha Athisdam, a chiropractor and true Health Angel as I call it. She shares her knowledge on how we can be the best possible version of ourselves, even in stressful situations. Nurdin and Barbara share their thoughts with you on how to make changes. Annemarijn – our physiotherapist – shows you how to effectively increase your strength while training. Katinka shares how she holds on to her healthy lifestyle with the help of others. Stefanie gives you practical tips for keeping up your healthy eating habits when you fall in love. And Bex dives into one of the oldest cuisines on earth, Japanese, where sharing has been commonplace for centuries. Oh, and our recipe for Banana bread is an ideal way to share your FITSHE protein with your friends.
